Dr. Ken's Story
Born and raised by autoworker parents in Detroit, Ken is a highly independent and unique scholar, educator, and counselor. He was a child prodigy who âÂÂgrew up in Journalism from the age of 14, progressing from reporter to editor by the age of 15.
He won 4 James E. Scripps Awards for distinguished journalism as a news anchor and street reporter with CBS/WWJ/Detroit. He has maintained parallel careers in counseling and education, while continuing in journalism and broadcasting. He is the host of a weekly program on Pure Jazz Radio out of New York City and he is the 10 year bandleader of a popular Jazz ensemble in Orlando.
For 10 years he was operations director and afternoon host of the University of Central FloridaâÂÂs NPR station. He also taught internships, independent studies, and Communications classes at UCF.
After completing ten years of classroom and clinic research, and over 30 years of teaching and counseling, Ken completed his Phd. in Counseling and Education. He matriculated at Latin American universities because the particular theories he researched originated there. (He has a previous doctorates in Clinical Addiction Psychology).

President of Addictions Counseling Services (ACS) of Orlando Florida, Ken has directed this excellent, highly regarded clinic for 20 years. Client satisfaction is in the 99% range. The clinic is a living laboratory for collaborative learning and therapy. The clinicâÂÂs program is entitled Transformative Self Management (TSM). Ken is completing a new book on Positive Transformational Therapy.
Ken completed a Master's of Education in Management and Innovation from Western Governors University. He was the first student to attain a perfect score in Technology Integration. He holds a Phd. in Counseling & Education.
Ken has resided in tropical Orlando Florida since 1986. He is currently bandleader and singer for his band Dr. K and Friends Blue Jazz which plays weekly in Orlando, most often at Chef Eddie's near the Orlando Magic Arena.
Ken is an avid bicycle rider, hiker and daily swimmer. He is also a tennis teaching pro with certification in professional sports management. For 30+ years, Ken has guided the Orlando Dharma Circle which currently offers weekly meditations at the (Phap Vu) Buddhist Cultural Center.
